Teardown
Terms

Terms and conditions

These are the terms on which you may use Teardown. They are meant to be read, so they are written to be read. By creating an account you agree to them.

Before this is shown to a paying customer, the operator must replace the bracketed placeholders with a real trading name, legal identity and address, and must state the VAT position. Consumer law requires a customer to know who they are contracting with before they pay.

1. Who you are contracting with

Teardown is operated by [YOUR TRADING NAME] ([YOUR LEGAL NAME - e.g. a limited company and its number, or your own name if a sole trader]), of [YOUR REGISTERED OR TRADING ADDRESS]. Where these terms say we or us, that is who is meant. Where they say you, that is the person or business holding the account. Contact: [YOUR CONTACT EMAIL FOR PRIVACY REQUESTS].

2. What Teardown is

Teardown visits online shops you nominate, reads what those shops publish, reports the patterns it finds, and produces design suggestions and, on the Build plan, theme files for your own shop.

It is a tool, not an adviser. What it produces is a starting point for your own judgement. It is not legal, financial, tax or professional advice, and it does not guarantee that your sales will improve.

3. Your account

4. Plans, prices and payment

BuildGBP 49 per monthMonthly, in advance

Prices are in pounds sterling. [STATE WHETHER PRICES INCLUDE OR EXCLUDE VAT, AND YOUR VAT NUMBER IF REGISTERED.] Payment is taken by Stripe; we never see or hold your card details. Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel it.

If a payment fails we may retry it and may suspend the paid features until it succeeds. We will not close your account or delete your work for a failed payment without telling you first.

5. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time. Your plan then runs to the end of the month you have already paid for, and is not renewed. We do not charge a cancellation fee and we do not require notice.

If you are a consumer - broadly, if you are buying for yourself rather than for a business - you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of subscribing, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the equivalent EU rules. Because Teardown starts working the moment you subscribe, by subscribing you ask us to begin at once; if you then cancel within the 14 days, we may keep a proportionate amount for what you actually used and refund the rest. To use this right, just write to [YOUR CONTACT EMAIL FOR PRIVACY REQUESTS] and say so.

Outside that, monthly fees already paid are not usually refundable, but if Teardown has genuinely not worked for you, tell us. We would rather refund you than argue.

6. Using it properly

You may not:

You are responsible for the addresses you feed it and for what you do with what comes back.

7. What we do not promise

Being straight with you about this is more useful than a disclaimer nobody reads:

8. Who owns what

Yours stays yours. Your shop details, your products, your prices and anything you type in remain yours. We claim no ownership of them and do not use them to train anything.

The output is yours to use. The designs, recommendations and theme files Teardown produces for you are yours to use in your business, without limit, including after you cancel.

Teardown itself stays ours. The software, its interface and its pattern library remain our property. Your subscription is permission to use them, not a transfer of them.

9. If something goes wrong

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by anything here.

Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows: we are not liable for lost profits, lost sales, lost data or indirect losses, and our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. If you are on the free plan, that figure is nothing, which is the honest consequence of it costing nothing.

10. Ending it

You may close your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks section 6, that is being used to harm someone, or where we are required to by law. Unless the law prevents us, we will tell you why, and we will give you a reasonable chance to get your data out first.

11. Changes

We may change these terms or the prices. If a change is to your disadvantage we will give you at least 30 days' notice in the product or by email, and you may cancel before it takes effect. Continuing to use Teardown after that means you accept the change. A price already paid for a month is not changed mid-month.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of where you live, and you may bring proceedings there.

13. Complaints

Write to [YOUR CONTACT EMAIL FOR PRIVACY REQUESTS]. We will reply. If you are an EU consumer you may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
